Ny fagbok om veien til en sunn økonomi
Vekstparadokset oppstår fordi samfunnet trenger mer økonomisk vekst, samtidig som jordkloden er full og klimaet på tippepunktet. Hvordan kan dette løses?
Boken Grønn vekst beskriver nyere grønn økonomisk teori samt mine egne resonnementer om hvordan vi best får til system-endringer: Slutt å skylde på forbrukere, kapitalister eller stor stat. Bidra til et ressursproduktivt næringsliv med aktive borgere som støtter en entreprenørisk stat. Det gir systemendring i praksis: få snudd et triangulært system som nå motsetter seg dyp endring, til å bli gjensidig forsterkende i den retningen vi trenger å gå.
Det kan gi en mer rettferdig og trygg økonomi innenfor økosystemenes tålegrenser. Det må måles på en måte som er visuell og som alle kan forstå, og fremvise åpent hva alle aktører faktisk bidrar med. De detaljerte løsningene, strategiene, eksemplene og prosessene fins. Kunnskapen er der. Det er nå på tide å ta alt i bruk.
For eller mot økonomisk vekst er en ufruktbar motsetning. Det handler om hva slags type vekst vi skaper fremover. Veksten vi vil ha er en enda raskere vekst av de reelt sunne løsningene.

ABSTRACT
Over the last decade, green growth policies have drawn increasing interest. OECD, UNEP, the World Bank and the EC have had several initiatives on the issue, and the Nordic countries have a special program on it. Definitions and indicator sets have been developed, though critics have pointed out that most initiatives amount to little more than a greenwashing of conventional economic growth. The paper proposes and discusses two definitions of green growth, one weak and one strong. Both build on resource- and carbon productivity measures, but whereas the weak definition requires absolute decoupling, the strong or “genuine green growth” requires sufficient decoupling to achieve science based targets for planetary boundaries. The approach is tested at country levels, starting with the climate boundary, by analyzing progress on carbon productivity (“CAPRO”) in Nordic countries since 2000. Results show that so far, among Nordic countries, Sweden, Finland and Denmark have achieved genuine green growth, while Norway has not. Implications for policy and communication of green growth are discussed.

Det har kommet en klima-nerd på tinget skriver Geri Ramnefjell i sin kommentar i Dagbladet 28.11.17 og skriver videre:
“Det unike med Stoknes’ tilnærming til klimaspørsmålet, er innrammingen hans. Han vil at vi skal nærme oss saken på en annen måte enn vi er vant med. Stoknes’ påstand er at det må være noe galt med hvordan vi gjør dette i dag, siden politikken beveger seg for sakte og siden velgerne ikke har latt seg overbevise. Det fine med Stoknes er at han viser at grønn politikk ikke trenger å være ytterliggående. I motsetning til partiet sitt er han tilhenger av økonomisk vekst. Det er ikke veksten som er problemet, men utslippene. Klarer vi å kople vekst fra økning i utslipp, er vi på vei mot løsningen. ”

FINALLY, THE TED GLOBAL VIDEO IS OUT!
TEDGLOBAL REFLECTIONS

After an intensive week in New York it is time for some reflections. The first word that comes to mind is intense; with an audience of 1200 in the great Town Hall of New York by Times Square one could feel the pressure. The pressure was not eased by 6 cameras, video and sound crew of 30-40 people and 3 trucks with extra supplies outside. Further, TED-funder Chris Anderson was on first row, the presence of top global leaders and bestselling authors as both fellow presenters and part of the audience. All of the above gave this humble Sundmøring a good dose of anticipation anxiety. Together with jetlag and little rest the night beforehand I was extremely nervous when entering the stage; would I manage to connect with the audience?
Every word in my presentation was rehearsed, timed and perfected, but what if my memory would fail me? Or if something would happen outside my control that would put me off my flow. Luckily everything went well and I’ve had good feedback after, but it is first when the video comes out one will really know if it worked well. I will post the video as soon as it is out and hope you will like it and share it. A warm thank you to Anne Solgaard for excellent coaching and Svein Kjøde for help and design on the slides, and to everyone that has contributed with advice and feedback.

A CHAPTER FOR THE SWEDISH KING
I have contributed with a chapter in the book “Environmental Reality: Rethinking the Options.” The publication is based on the presentations and contributions to the 12th Royal Colloquium in May 2016. The Royal Colloquium started in 1992, where a selected group of scientists and decision makers were invited by the Swedish king, CarlX VI Gustav, to discuss these matters in an informal setting. I was lucky to be a part of the colloquium in 2016 and proud to have contributed to this publication.
